The 2024 MLB playoffs kicks off on Tuesday with eight teams battling it out in the first game of the wild card series round, with the top two from each league advancing to continue their World Series campaign.

In Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series, the Detroit Tigers will face the Houston Astros. Despite dealing with a right knee sprain, the impactful Yordan Alvarez is in the lineup as the designated hitter. The team is carrying 11 pitchers, Justin Verlander is themost noteworthy commission this round.

Verlander, who pitched on Saturday in the 4-3 win against the Cleveland Guardians, marked his 262nd career victory. Alvarez, with his .308 batting average, 35 home runs, and a .959 OPS, is set to be a game-changer for the Astros.
