Mizzou basketball’s Sean East II inks Exhibit-10 contract with Los Angeles Lakers

Mizzou basketball’s leading scorer is headed to the NBA.

Former Tigers guard Sean East II, who averaged 17.6 points, 4.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds in his final collegiate season, signed an Exhibit-10 contract with the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday.

A college journeyman, the Louisville native got his start at UMass for one season before a transfer to Bradley for another. He then attended John A. Logan Community College in Carterville, Illinois, where he averaged 20.9 points per game in a season that ended in a Region 24 Championship.

East spent his final two seasons in Columbia.

East made great strides in his final season, increasing his scoring from 7.3 points per game during the 2022-23 campaign to 17.6 points in his graduate season, ranking fifth in the SEC. East shot 52.1% from the field and 45% from 3 — the latter mark ranking seventh-best all-time at MU.

East’s Exhibit-10 deal is a one-year, league-minimum deal. Exhibit-10 deals are used as tryout contracts, with the opportunity to convert to a two-way deal before the regular season.

East is the third Tiger to sign with an NBA team under head coach Dennis Gates. Kobe Brown was a first-round selection by the Los Angeles Clippers following the 2022-23 season. D’Moi Hodge landed with the Lakers on a two-way deal that same offseason.
