Who it’s for: Golfers seeking a highly customized putter with extra stability on mis-hits.
What you should know: The updated M.Craft X putters feature interchangeable face and body components, allowing custom fitters to create personalized putters. Adjustable sole weights enhance balance and feel, while the classic mallet shape provides a traditional aesthetic.
The deep dive: While golfers have increasingly embraced custom fittings for their drivers and irons, the putter—the most important club in the bag—often remains overlooked. Too often, players pick a putter off the rack after seeing it on TV, roll a few putts on the carpet, and call it a day.
Mizuno’s updated M.Craft X putters aim to change that by making it easier for fitters to help golfers find a putter that matches both their stroke and visual preferences.
The M.Craft X putters consist of two primary components: a forged 1025 stainless steel face and neck, and a milled aluminum back section. The steel provides the soft feel that many golfers prefer, while the lightweight aluminum allows for strategic weight placement. By incorporating interchangeable sole weights in the heel and toe areas, Mizuno gives fitters the ability to fine-tune the putter’s swing weight. However, the weights also double as screws, holding the face and back sections together without the need for additional bonding materials.
Using the forged stainless steel and aluminum combination also boosts the moment of inertia (MOI). This design creates resistance to twisting on off-center hits, which helps golfers start their putts on the intended line more consistently.
When fully assembled, the M.Craft X lineup includes three standard configurations:
A square mallet with a plumber’s neck.
A rounded mallet with a spud neck.
A wing-style mallet with a slant neck.
The modular design, however, allows fitters and players to mix and match components for a truly custom experience. The three face options and three aluminum back sections combine to create nine unique putter configurations. Each model name includes a letter (MB, MS, or MP) corresponding to the forged face and a number (4, 5, or 6) representing the back section.
The standard weight of each M.Craft X putter is 365 grams, though fitters can adjust the weight using different screws to meet a player’s preferences.
