Missy Franklin returns home to hearts and well-wishes
Medal count | Olympic schedule | Olympic news
Missy Franklin didn’t have the greatest Olympic Games, it’s true. Yes, she won a gold medal, but (and we understand that this is the most irrelevant “but” of the year) it was as part of the preliminary event of a gold-winning relay team. It was a bit of a comedown from London, where she won four golds and one bronze.
But hey, Olympians are Olympians, and when Franklin returned home, she found the following tribute awaiting her on her lawn:
I am beyond blown away by this love and compassion. I have the best community in the world around me! THANK YOU???? pic.twitter.com/iuoQDHY1lP

All in all, a much better homecoming than the uncomfortable airport return of Franklin’s fellow swimmer Michael Phelps. Welcome home, Missy Franklin.
