Even after signing Kylian Mbappe and Endrick this summer, Real Madrid may still have their task cut out this summer as they look to bring in defensive reinforcements.

However, in recent weeks, Real Madrid appear to have been reluctant to go after another centre-back, especially after missing out on Leny Yoro, whereas their pursuit of Alphonso Davies has also waned.

Real Madrid eyeing double-swoop in 2025

According to The Daily Briefing, Real Madrid might actually be quietly laying the groundwork for the summer of 2025.

As per the report, the club are eyeing double-swoop in 2025, in the form of Trent-Alexander Arnold and Alphonso Davies.

With the contracts of Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez set to expire in the summer of 2025, Los Blancos are exploring options to bolster their defensive flanks.

One name that has been consistently linked with a move to the Bernabeu is Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold, whose contract at Anfield is set to expire in 2025.

Both Carvajal and Vazquez have been integral parts of the club’s success in recent years, but their advancing age means their long-term futures are uncertain. Alexander-Arnold, to that end, can emerge as an ideal long-term replacement.

Another player who has emerged as a target is Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies. The Canadian left-back is considered one of the most exciting young defenders in world football and could provide long-term competition for Ferland Mendy.

Real Madrid were keen on signing Davies this summer, but his contract situation makes him a much more appealing target in 2025, knowing he could be available on a free transfer.

The idea of signing both of these established fullbacks for free represents an excellent market opportunity for Real Madrid and very few can blame Los Blancos for already kickstarting this operation.
