Minnesota safety Brock Vereen has met with Vikings, Colts, Panthers, Jaguars, Bengals, Falcons, Steelers

As the younger brother of New England Patriots running back Shane Vereen, Minnesota safety Brock Vereen has the NFL bloodlines.

He also has drawn the interest of several NFL teams.

Vereen has met with the Minnesota Vikings, Indianapolis Colts, Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cincinnati Bengals, Atlanta Falcons and the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a league source.

At the NFL scouting combine, the 6-foot, 200-pounder ran the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds, bench pressed 225 pounds 25 times, best at his position group, had a 4.07 short shuttle for the second-best at his position, and had a 34-inch vertical leap.

Athletic and instinctive, Vereen, whose father played wide receiver at UNLV and was a ninth-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 1979 NFL draft, started 36 career games for the Golden Gophers.

Brock Vereen has four career interceptions.

Vereen has a background as a starting cornerback before shifting to safety and then back to cornerback.

He was a first-team All-Big Ten Conference selection last season after shifting back to cornerback from safety.

Vereen graduated from high school with a 4.4 grade point average, turning down Stanford to enroll at Minnesota.

Last season, Vereen had 59 tackles and one forced fumble.

As a starter at cornerback for all 12 games in 2011, he had a career-high 67 tackles with seven pass deflections and one interception with a forced fumble.
