Minnesota Continues To Tour The Walter Cup

Now well beyond the midway point of the offseason, and the celebrations for the Minnesota Frost, who won the inaugural Walter Cup as the PWHL's champions, continue.

The Frost won the inaugural Walter Cup beating Boston in a deciding game five, shutting them out 3-0 back on May 29, 2024.

Players from the championship roster continue to tour with the Walter Cup, taking it to schools, on vacation, to visit family, and to be shown off at other professional sporting venues.

Two such sports teams, the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings both welcomed Minnesota Frost players, along with the Walter Cup in recent days. That included Taylor Heise and Grace Zumwinkle throwing out the opening pitch at Target Field prior to a Twins game.

Zumwinkle and Heise also took the Walter Cup back to Huntington Bank Stadium at their University of Minnesota alma mater. It wasn't the only time the Cup would travel onto a football field this summer. At U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the NFL's Minnesota Vikings, the Walter Cup made it to the endzone in front of 66,741 fans ushered by Heise, Zumwinkle, Sydney Brodt, and Kelly Pannek.

In her time with the Cup earlier in the summer, Sophia Kunin, who announced her retirement following the PWHL's inaugural season, took the Walter Cup on many active adventures. With Kunin, the Cup went paddle boarding, boating, fishing, on an ATV, became a seat for dogs and babies, and visited family.

And perhaps most importantly, the Walter Cup made it to several youth camps, high schools, and hockey schools this offseason, giving girls another dream to look toward.
