Milwaukee Admirals Claim Chase De Leo Off Waivers From The Charlotte Checkers

The Milwaukee Admirals announced they have claimed forward Chase De Leo off waivers from the Charlotte Checkers.

The 29-year-old began the season in Europe, appearing in nine games for Barys Astana of the KHL and four games for ZSC Lions of the NL, he went pointless in all 13.

De Leo signed a one-year AHL contract with the Charlotte Checkers but had to pass through waivers due to playing in Europe earlier this season.

The La Mirada, Calif., captained the San Diego Gulls last season, recording 15 goals and 48 points in 52 games.

A fourth round selection of the Winnipeg Jets in 2014, De Leo has 135 goals and 349 points in 494 career AHL games. He is pointless in seven career NHL games.

De Leo is crafty with the puck and was around a point-per-game player his last four AHL seasons. He will bring a significant offensive boost to a Milwaukee team who despite sitting third in their division are in the bottom-half of the AHL in goals for.

The Admirals play a back-to-back against the Texas Stars tonight and tomorrow.
