Millwall boss Alex Neil says the performances of his players has been "unreal" in back-to-back wins against Luton Town and Portsmouth.

Summer signing Mihailo Ivanovic's two sublime finishes secured consecutive 1-0 wins at Kenilworth Road and Fratton Park.

Serbian striker Ivanovic, 20, was assisted on both occasions by Ra'ees Bangura-Williams, also 20, and Neil praised both players for the winner against Pompey on Tuesday.

"To lift it over his shoulder [Ivanovic over Portsmouth goalkeeper Nicolas Schmid] in the manner in which he did, right in front of the fans – it doesn't get much better," Neil told BBC Radio London.

"You can't argue with the record at the moment, Ivanovic has scored two fantastic goals in the last two games.

"Ra'ees should have scored today, I think he's got three assists and a goal in three starts so my job's just to make sure they understand what I want doing defensively, what I want from them offensively and then to let them go and play."

Millwall are now unbeaten in three Championship matches, having drawn with Cardiff City prior to Saturday's victory over Luton.

The Lions had led the Bluebirds 2-0 at The Den but conceded in added time of each half as the match ended 2-2.

Ivanovic now has five goals since joining the club from FK Vojvodina in the summer.

"I think that's what we've got to try to do [build on the two wins]," Neil added.

"Those two goals we've scored weren't by accident, the goals that we scored have been designed in terms of how we try to make sure we land in certain spaces. We knew the passes and runs we were going to make.

"The boys have been brilliant, they've been really, really good. To have the setback in the 97th minute at home in the game against Cardiff, to then go and produce the two performances with where we are at the moment squad-wise – unreal."

Neil said goalkeeper Liam Roberts was "excellent" as he came in for injured first choice Lukas Jensen to secure a clean sheet in his first league appearance of the season.

Seven points from nine have moved the Lions up to 13th in the league and will relieve fans concerned the club was just beginning to get dragged into a relegation battle, with them now 10 points clear of the drop zone.

They host Queens Park Rangers in a London derby on Saturday.

Forward Aaron Connolly and defender Tristan Crama have already been signed from Sunderland and Brentford, respectively, and Neil hinted there could be further business before the transfer window closes on Monday.

"Everybody knows we're light in certain areas at the moment. We will be getting players back, obviously the window's going to come to an end so we'll see what happens between now and the end of the window.

"The squad that's available at the moment and what they've churned out has been absolutely sensational. I've got praise for every player."
