Milan target Gimenez deal with La Liga striker as potential alternative
Milan are continuing their search for a new striker to strengthen Sergio Conceição’s squad and have reportedly identified their primary target in Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, despite also lining up a backup plan.
After the Rossoneri’s attempts to sign the likes of Marcus Rashford and João Felix were frustrated, mainly due to financial reasons, they have switched their focus to the Mexican striker, who has been scoring consistently throughout the last three seasons with the Eredivisie outfit.
Milan eyeing Feyenoord’s Gimenez but have backup plan ready
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, intense negotiations between the parties took place on Tuesday and are expected to continue on Wednesday in an effort to reach an agreement.
However, the Diavolo also have an alternative ready in case the deal for Gimenez fails to materialise, as they are also monitoring Dodi Lukebakio of Sevilla.
The Belgium international would pose similar challenges as some previous targets, though, as the La Liga side values the forward at approximately €40m.
Despite potential obstacles, the Rossoneri seem determined to bolster their offensive department and are set to continue working to secure one of the two players before the end of the winter transfer window.
