Milan have sacked Paulo Fonseca to hire his compatriot Sergio Conceiçao: follow today’s updates and reactions live.
Milan confirmed Fonseca’s sacking with an official statement on Monday morning, but the Portuguese tactician had already announced his departure while leaving San Siro on Sunday night after a 1-1 draw against Roma.
His compatriot Sergio Conceiçao will land in the capital of Lombardy today. Reports in Italy suggest he has already signed a six-month contract with an option to 2026.
The former Porto coach has already left Portugal and will land in Italy at around 14:30 local time (13:30 GMT).
According to Calciomercato.com, Fonseca visited Milanello for the last time this morning.
Milan have changed their schedule, cancelling the players’ day off. They trained in the morning before Conceiçao’s arrival, but the new coach will be introduced to the team in the afternoon.
Milan will fly to Saudi Arabia tomorrow, Tuesday, December 31, and will meet Juventus in the Supercoppa Italiana semifinal on January 3.
