Milan opening Gimenez bid considered insultingly low
There is confusion over exactly how much Milan have offered for Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, with suggestions in Mexico that the proposal was just €20m plus a cut of the sell-on fee.
The asking price is expected to be around €40m, which is not an unreasonable request considering the 23-year-old has scored 15 goals with three assists in just 18 competitive games so far this season.
That includes four in four Champions League appearances, against Manchester City, Sparta Prague and the brace to beat Bayern Munich 3-0.
Gimenez value a huge problem for Milan
It had been reported in Italy that the offer rejected by Feyenoord was €30m plus bonuses, which would put Milan in a position to step up the negotiations.
However, Circulo AM in Mexico claim that the opening bid was only €20m plus a 10 per cent cut of his future sale.
That was considered almost insultingly low for the Dutch side and makes it unlikely they can find the right price before the transfer deadline on February 3.
There was another suggestion that the offer was €20m spread out over four instalments, which is also not going to be anywhere near enough for the Mexico international.
