Milan and Man City still have hope for Ricci despite Torino contract extension – report
Milan and Manchester City will not pull out of their pursuit of Torino midfielder and Italy international Samuele Ricci, despite his having signed a new long-term contract extension with Torino on Thursday morning.
Though Ricci has put pen to paper on a deal until the summer of 2028 with Torino, reports in Italy suggest that there is a form of ‘gentleman’s agreement’ between the player and club in the event that a ‘top’ European club makes a suitable offer in the near future.
‘Gentleman’s agreement’ for Ricci gives Milan and Man City hope
According to updates from Calciomercato.com, Torino will not stand in Ricci’s way should a reasonable offer come in from a bigger European club. Both Milan and Manchester City have been linked with moves for the Italy international over the course of the 2024-25 season.
Even with a new contract, Torino will reportedly still consider offers in the region of €25m-€30m for the 23-year-old midfielder.
Calciomercato.com point to Juventus defender Bremer as an example. The Brazilian also signed off on a new contract extension with Torino in February of 2022, just a few months before he went on to sign for Juventus in the summer of the same year.
