There was both good and bad news for Milan this evening, as while Ismael Bennacer made his comeback after 134 days, Samuel Chukwueze will miss the Supercoppa Italiana with a thigh strain.

See how it unfolds on the Liveblog.

The Rossoneri have been beset by injury problems all season long and they went into tonight’s Serie A showdown with Roma sporting a long list of absentees.

Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Yunus Musah, Noah Okafor and Alessandro Florenzi were all out of action.

There was a boost at the dawn of the second half when Bennacer came on for Filippo Terracciano, his first appearance since sustaining a serious calf strain back in August.

However, the good news did not last long, because moments after stinging Mile Svilar’s gloves with a left-foot curler, Chukwueze suddenly pulled up clutching the back of his leg and calling to the bench for a substitution.

The attacking winger was distraught as he had to be carried off the field by medical staff, with the suspicion this is a serious thigh strain and he is likely to be out of action for at least a month.

It would certainly mean missing the Supercoppa Italiana clash with Juventus on January 3 in Riyadh.
