According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Milan lawyers are considering a plea bargain to avoid a possible ban for Paulo Fonseca following harsh criticism towards referees.
Milan lawyers could accept a plea bargain to avoid a potential ban for coach Fonseca, reports Corriere dello Sport.
The Portuguese tactician harshly criticised Federico La Penna after a 2-1 loss against Atalanta on Friday, saying he was ‘revolted’ by the lack of respect towards his club.
Milan consider plea deal to avoid Fonseca’s ban
Corriere dello Sport reported on Sunday that the FIGC prosecutor had opened an investigation that could result in the Portuguese tactician’s suspension, an uncommon punishment in Italian football for these sorts of offences.
Fonseca said he was “afraid” of La Penna, who was also the VAR official for a Serie A match against Udinese in October when Tijjani Reijnders received a straight red card in the first half.
He even added that the referee “steered” the match towards Atalanta, suggesting premeditation favouring Milan’s opponents.
Therefore, Milan’s lawyers are reportedly considering a plea bargain to mitigate the effects of Fonseca’s words, avoiding suspension and getting a fine instead.
