Mikel Arteta 'agrees' contract extension with Arsenal
Mikel Arteta has agreed a new contract with Arsenal.
That’s according to a report in the Athletic on Thursday which claims that the Spanish tactician has already put pen-to-paper on a new deal, which will be confirmed soon.
David Ornstein claims that the extension will run to 2027.
Arteta’s current deal was due to expire at the end of the current season with a host of big-name clubs – including Barcelona -thought to be keen on landing the former midfielder.
But the 42-year-old never wavered in his commitment to the north London club and will now stay for a further three seasons.
Arteta secured the FA Cup in 2020 and has since helped Arsenal to the Champions League quarter-finals as well as finishing second in the Premier League last term.
