Nikola Jokić can officially go home.

The Denver Nuggets celebrated their first NBA championship in franchise history Thursday with their victory parade through the streets of the Mile High City.

The team wrapped up the NBA Finals on Monday, defeating the Miami Heat in five games. Jokić was named Finals MVP for his performance, which included the first 30-point, 20-rebound, 10-assist triple-double in Finals history in Game 3. Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. were visibly emotional after capturing the title and Aaron Gordon partied with fans in the streets.

The party continued with half a million people as the team descended onto Capitol Hill to revel in their accomplishment.

Michael Malone delights fans, promises more titles

Head coach Michael Malone was the talk of the town as he wore a T-shirt that featured the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy and "Put This in Your Pipe and Smoke It," a reference to his comments during the Western Conference finals that his team was ready to compete, even as there was speculation that LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers would come back after a Game 1 loss. The Nuggets ended up sweeping the Lakers.

Malone was amped up all day as he sprayed champagne in the crowd.

He repeatedly promised that more titles were on the way.

"What a great day to celebrate the championship," he said while riding a fire truck. "But we're not done yet. We're some greedy bastards, baby. We're some greedy bastards. We're getting another one."

Malone fought through tears as he reflected on the day and thanked the fans who waited 47 years to see a championship.

"For me, to share it with our fans, that means the world to me. This is an amazing experience. Something I believed in. I had no doubt that we'd get to this point," he said through tears, noting that Colorado Avalanche coach Jared Bednar told him the emotions hit him at the Stanley Cup parade last year. "I had no doubt because of the people I work with every day."

Nikola Jokić enjoys parade with his family

Despite expressing frustration after Game 5 that he had to attend the championship parade and couldn't go home to Serbia, Nikola Jokić was all smiles Thursday.

He rode on the fire truck with his wife and daughter, who he proudly put on his shoulders.

While addressing the crowd, Jokić was clearly soaking in the moment and wasn't mad that he was still in Denver.

"This is amazing," he said. "We're all going to remember this our whole lives."

Michael Malone says Bruce Brown will stay

Bruce Brown was a key player for the Nuggets off the bench. He had 21 points in Game 4 and was a motivating presence for the whole team. The former Miami Hurricanes star will be a free agent this offseason if he doesn't use his player option.

"Is Brucey B going anywhere?" Malone asked the adoring crowd from the stage. "Hell no."

Brown was next to the coach and beamed as the crowd cheered for him.
