What's buzzing:

Michael Bush visiting the Patriots

National Football Post

The New England Patriots struck gold with LeGarrette Bloung a season ago.

Getting him cheap, the Patriots saw Blount emerge as a weapon by the end of the year. He finished his season with 772 yards and seven touchdowns in 2013, but excelled in the final regular season game against Buffalo (189 yards, two touchdowns) and in the divisional playoff game against the Colts (166 yards, four touchdowns).

With Blount heading to Pittsburgh, the Patriots are in the market for another big back.

Enter Michael Bush, who, according to a report from NFL.com, will visit the Patriots this week. Bush was used as a short-yardage back in Chicago, where he backed up Matt Forte.

Statistically, Bush had his worst NFL season in 2013, tallying just 197 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Then again, not a lot was thought of Blount after being out of favor with the front office in Tampa Bay, prior to his arrival in New England.

The Patriots still have Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen under contract, as well as Brandon Bolden. Missing from that stable of running backs is the short-yardage, goal line back Blount provided for most of the season before breaking out late.

Bush wouldn't be expected to fill Blount's shoes necessarily, given he has yet to emerge as a No. 1 running back in the NFL in his six seasons. But if signed, he'd certainly fill a void in New England's running back rotation.
