Miami Hurricanes’ recruiting push continues as Malachi Toney re-commits to UM
Malachi Toney is back in the Miami Hurricanes’ recruiting class.
The Plantation American Heritage wide receiver on Monday re-committed to the Hurricanes after a nearly month-long hiatus from being a Miami pledge.
Toney, a four-star receiver according to the 247Sports composite rankings, had previously committed to Miami on Aug. 22, 2023, as a member of the 2026 recruiting class. He then reclassified to the Class of 2025 in September and de-committed from UM on Oct. 3.
Less than a month later, he’s back.
On the season, Toney has 54 catches for 964 yards and 12 touchdowns for American Heritage, which is ranked as the No. 33 team in the country.
Toney is the third receiver in Miami’s Class of 2025. He joins West Broward four-star receiver Joshua Moore and Phenix City (Alabama) Central three-star wideout Daylyn Upshaw.
Toney is Miami’s second commitment in as many days following its 36-14 win over in-state rival Florida State on Saturday. Class of 2026 four-star cornerback Camdin Portis, the son of UM great Clinton Portis, committed to Miami on Sunday.
