Miami Hurricanes move up in AP poll again after shutout win over Ball State
The Miami Hurricanes once again moved up in the Associated Press top-25 poll after another dominant win.
Miami checked in at No. 8 in the latest edition of the AP poll on Sunday, up two spots from last week. It’s Miami’s highest ranking since October 2020.
The Hurricanes blew past Ball State 62-0 on Sunday to improve to 3-0 on the season. Miami’s other wins are 41-17 at the Florida Gators and a 56-9 home rout of Florida A&M.
Miami set a program record for largest margin of victory in a shutout of an FBS opponent (62) and total offense (750) in the rout of Ball State.
It was enough for pollsters to leapfrog Miami over Oregon and Penn State in the poll.
Miami began the season ranked No. 20 before moving up to No. 12 after Week 1 and No. 10 after Week 2.
Meanwhile, Texas overtook Georgia at the top spot in the poll after Georgia narrowly beat Kentucky 13-12 on the road while Texas routed UTSA 56-7.
The rest of the top 10: No. 3 Ohio State, No. 4 Alabama, No. 5 Ole Miss, No. 6 Tennessee (up one spot), No. 7 Missouri (down one spot), No. 9 Oregon and No. 10 Penn State (down two spots).
Miami is one of three ranked ACC teams, along with No. 19 Louisville and No. 21 Clemson. Boston College dropped out of the poll after a 27-21 loss to Missouri on Saturday.
