Shortly after launching their Instagram account, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced that they would be using it to shine a spotlight on particular important causes.

While previously, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had followed up to a dozen initiatives at a time, last month became the first for them to follow a single page - the Good News Movement - and now they are continuing that by the supporting the Global Positive News Network in February.

In a post to their 11.1m followers, they wrote: “For the month of February we are pleased to follow @globalpositivenews which focuses on the acts of kindness and uplifting stories of community across the globe. We hope you enjoy!”

Their message captioned a collage of images from uplifting stories from around the world.

Global Positive News, which currently has 135,000 followers, describes itself as the “most heartwarming page on Instagram”.

According to the Daily Mail, they state that they strive to be a “trustworthy news resource that focuses on the positives in life rather than the negatives” as well as promising to “enrich our soul” and “energise and uplift people”.

The page was founded by San Francisco-based author and entrepreneur Kristi Carter.

Recent stories they have covered include a four-year-old who saved her unconscious mum’s life, a police officer who donated her liver to an 11-year-old stranger and a 94-year-old woman who crochets hats for those in need.

On New Year’s Day - before announcing their withdrawal from the royal family - the Duke and Duchess revealed they would be following just one Instagram account each month to show followers “all the good that is happening in the world”.

Captioning a collage of stories from the Good News Movement, they wrote: “Happy New Year!

“For 2020 we will be continuing our tradition of highlighting accounts that inspire, and that remind us of all the good that is happening in the world.

“However, this time we will be focusing on just one account each month.”
