Meet the Sun Herald Boys Soccer All-South Mississippi Team for the 2023-24 season

The boys of South Mississippi once again had a strong year on the pitch.

Multiple teams brought home state championships and athletes across the Coast landed on the Mississippi Association of Coaches All Star team.

Seven teams reached the Final Four and Bay High and Long Beach came home with hardware out of 4A and Class I, respectively.

Braiden Bonds was instrumental in guiding the Bearcats to their fourth consecutive title and earns Sun Herald Player of the Year. While both state champions were led by first-year head coaches, Bay High’s Chris Doxey has been named Coach of the Year following the Tigers’ dominant run through their schedule.

Biloxi’s Johnny Workman rounds out the honors by winning the Fan’s Choice Player of the Year.

Braiden Bonds, Long Beach

Bonds was the Coast’s leading goal-scorer with 25 . He assisted on six more for a total of 31 points responsible for while helping lead the Bearcats to their fourth consecutive championship. Bonds was named MVP of the title game after scoring a pair of goals.

Coach of the Year

Chris Doxey, Bay High

Doxey’s return to Bay High was a near-perfect one. The former Tiger assistant led The Bay to a 23-1-2 record and the program’s second title in as many seasons.

The Tigers had three players with double-digit goals and outscored their opponents 15-1 in the postseason. Four of the team’s 14 shutouts came in the playoffs.

Fan’s Choice Player of the Year

Jonathan Workman, Biloxi

Workman led Biloxi with 17 goals scored and eight assists and was named a Mississippi Gulf Coast All Star. The senior garnered 28,000 votes and 44 percent of the Fan’s Choice poll. He’s committed to play at Pearl River.

Sun Herald All-South Mississippi Team

  • Aiden Boudro, Bay High: The Davidson soccer commit found the back of the net 17 times for the Tigers and assited on eight more goals. Was the Offensive Player of the Game in the Coast All Star game.

  • Sawyer Bilbo, Bay High: Bilbo scored 10 goals and assisted on another in his junior season. Was a Coast All Star select.

  • Bryton Dupuy, Bay High: Dupuy was a MAC All Star and is a Pearl River C.C. signee. The senior scored 12 goals and assisted on four more.

  • Darius Pyron, D’Iberville: Pyron is a Meridian College signee who was the first Warrior boys soccer player to be selected as a MAC All Star.

  • Devin Beamon, Gulfport: Beamons scored 19 goals and assisted on another 10 for the Admirals.

  • Tripp Alexander, Gulfport: Alexander played a key role in 14 clean sheets and contributed with a goal and two assists.

  • Drew Corbin, Gulfport: Corbin registered 70 saves for the Admirals and was both a MAC and Coast All Star.

  • Cameron Badurak, Gulfport: Badurak scored 11 goals and assisted on two more as a senior.

  • Wesley Sanders, Gulfport: The junior hit the back of the net 11 times and recorded one assist.

  • Caiden Karetas, Gulfport: Karetas scored eight goals with four assists for the Admirals in his freshman season.

  • Alexander Mink, Long Beach: Mink was a MAC All Star and the Coast All Star Player of the Year after scoring 11 goals and assisting on eight more.

  • Jason Marshall, Long Beach: Marshall is a Coast All Star and a Pearl River signee who scored 11 goals and picked up 13 assists.

  • Landon VanCourt, Long Beach: The senior Pearl River signee and Coast All Star contributed to 10 clean sheets while scoring two goals and picking up five assists.

  • Easton van Norden, Long Beach: van Norden contributed to seven clean sheets, was a Coast All Star and one of his eight goals scored was the game winner in the 79th minute of the state title game.

  • Sam Powell, Hancock: The junior scored 17 goals for the Hawks.

  • Jamayl Duckworth, Moss Point: Duckworth led the Tigers with 17 goals and assisted on eight more.

  • Will Berglind, Ocean Springs: The senior contributed to 11 shutouts and scored one goal with two assists. Was a MAC All Star.

  • Camden Hayes, Ocean Springs: The defender also contributed to 11 shutouts and helped keep opponents to just 20 goals in 25 games. Also scored two goals and assisted on three more and was named a Coast All Star.

  • Trey Roche, Pass Christian: Roche found the net 24 times and assisted on eight more goals, was named a Coast All Star game.

  • Chris Hart, Pearl River Central: Hart led the Blue Devils with 15 goals and two assists as a senior and a Coast All Star.

  • Ayden Porter, Pearl River Central: Porter scored 12 goals and picked up four assists as a junior.

  • Trace Moore, Picayune: Moore scored 15 goals and had three assists.

  • Larry Davis, Picayune: Davis found the back of the net 10 times and assisted on six more goals.

  • Mason Ripoll, Picayune: Ripoll scored nine goals for the Maroon Tide and assisted six more.

  • Oren Doxey, St. Stanislaus: Doxey scored 19 goals for the Rocks with 20 assists while being named a Coast All Star.

  • Richard Niolet, St. Stanislaus: Niolet scored 23 goals and assisted on five more. Was named a Coast All Star.
