Medical Tests Confirm Injury Setback Inter Milan & Brazil Star – Out For Juventus Clash & Risk For More Matches

Medical tests have confirmed that Inter Milan wingback Carlos Augusto has suffered a thigh strain and will be unavailable against Juventus this weekend.

The Nerazzurri have confirmed the injury for the Brazilian. He will also be a big risk for upcoming matches against Empoli and Venezia.

Wingback Augusto started for Inter in Wednesday evening’s Champions League match against Young Boys.

The 25-year-old lined up on the right flank of the Nerazzurri 3-5-2 shape, giving Federico Dimarco a rest from the start.

Augusto had to come off with an injury, however.

This happened around ten minutes into the second half of the Champions League match.

Augusto was chasing down a through-ball into the Young Boys penalty area. And he pulled up with an injury after rapidly accelerating and decelerating on the artificial turf.

Augusto immediately indicated that he would not be able to continue. The former Monza wingback looked to be in significant discomfort immediately after his sprint.

Therefore, Dimarco quickly came on to the pitch to replace Augusto.

Carlos Augusto Suffers Thigh Strain – Out For Inter Vs Juventus & Maybe More Matches

Today, Augusto underwent tests with the Inter medical staff.

And these confirmed that the problem for Augusto is a strain to the thigh flexor muscles in his left leg.

This diagnosis has removed all doubt about the Brazilian’s availability for the Derby d’Italia on Sunday. Inter host Juventus in a massive Serie A match.

Augusto will certainly be on the sidelines for that match.

And then, the club announce that Augusto will undergo a reassessment next week.

Therefore, the 25-year-old would also be in doubt for at least a couple more matches.

Next Wednesday, Inter take on Empoli in Serie A. And then the weekend after this one, the Nerazzurri host Venezia.

At the moment, it would appear very much up in the air whether Augusto can return to fitness in time for either of those matches.
