Mediaset: Fofana deal in the ‘final stages’ as Milan and Monaco agree transfer fee

Youssouf Fofana is getting closer to AC Milan, following France’s exit from the Euros, and the deal could be closed as early as this week. According to a report, the Rossoneri have reached an agreement in principle with Monaco over the transfer fee.

In an attempt to fix their defensive balance ahead of next season, Milan are expected to sign a defensive midfielder and Fofana has been at the top of their wish list for a long time. And with France now out of the Euros, the Rossoneri are looking to clinch the deal.

According to Mediaset, as cited by MilanNews, a total agreement is getting closer as Fofana already has given his word to Milan. This week should be decisive and the transfer fee should be around €22m plus another €2m in bonuses, which both clubs would be happy with.

The 25-year-old played 35 games for Monaco last season and would certainly be a great addition for the Rossoneri. A whopping 49 goals were conceded in Serie A last season and the hope is that someone like Fofana, along with Paulo Fonseca’s tactics, can help Milan overturn the negative trend.

In addition to Fofana, Milan are also seemingly getting closer to Alvaro Morata, who will be the starting No.9 next season.
