Pre-match reports suggest that Weston McKennie could start up front for Juventus in a ‘false nine’ role, instead of compatriot Timothy Weah, who had been the assumed candidate to lead the line for the Bianconeri when they take on Milan in San Siro on Saturday evening.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the USMNT midfielder could be given the nod up front, with Weah potentially starting from the bench instead.

Juventus are currently without leading goalscorer Dusan Vlahovic, who picked up a minor knock while away on international duty with Serbia during the break. With Arkadiusz Milik also out long term, Thiago Motta is without a recognised senior centre-forward for the Milan game.

Reports all throughout the last week suggested that Weah would be the natural go-to, given that he has at least some experience of playing as a centre-forward. Kenan Yildiz has also played in that role at the end of some Juve matches this season.

However, Motta could now go with an entirely different tactic altogether and deploy Juve’s utility man against Milan. The 26-year-old has also done shifts at wing-back as well as his usual midfield role during his time in Turin
