Mazzara: Milan squad ‘strengthened but not complete’ – the remaining moves to make

AC Milan’s work in the summer transfer window is not yet complete, a journalist has claimed, and the main topic of conversation in the coming days will be sales.

Milan have so far brought in four players: Alvaro Morata joined from Atletico Madrid to be the new starting striker, Strahinja Pavlovic joined from Red Bull Salzburg to bolster the centre-back role, Emerson Royal has come from Spurs to provide competition at right-back and Youssouf Fofana was the most recent addition from Monaco.

Nonetheless, rumours are still swirling that there could be yet more business done by the directors, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic admitting at Fofana’s unveiling that the club are keen on Manu Kone of Borussia Monchengladbach. First, though, it will be necessary to offload players.

Pietro Mazzara provided an update on where Milan’s mercato stands during his latest editorial for MilanNews, touching on the three players who could leave and the final signing that might arrive.

“Transfer market chapter: the squad has been strengthened, but it is not complete. If the decision was made to focus on Morata for the striker, on Okafor (holy Noah, how underrated you are), Jovic (he only works as a second striker) and on the growth of Camarda, it is in the middle of the pitch that something is still needed,” he began.

Adli, Pobega and Bennacer all have a suitcase ready and if Tommaso is working with the club and his entourage to find the best solution, for Yacine and Ismael there are different situations. The first has several exotic proposals, he would not like to leave Milan, but he risks ending up out of both the list for Serie A and (more obviously) that for the Champions League. It is not convenient for him on a career level.

“For Bennacer an offer is needed for the registration. After the knee injury, Isma has never been the same as before and if his departure were to serve to take Manu Koné from Borussia Monchengladbach, then the transfer is welcome. And then a real deputy Theo would be needed. Terracciano and Saelemaekers have shown that they are going haywire in that position.”
