Mayor Sala states Milan ‘deserved’ to win the derby: “I’m not happy”
AC Milan found themselves on the right side of the Derby della Madonnina for the first time in two years on Sunday night. Following the game, Mayor Sala – who is famously an Inter fan – spoke about the defeat.
It has been far too long since Milan have been able to view the derby in a positive light, but today, we can do so. The Rossoneri were deserved winners on Sunday night, and there are several positives to be taken from a very good performance.
Paulo Fonseca will now keep his position as the Diavolo’s head coach, and with his side starting to show signs of togetherness, things should only go forwards from here. Furthermore, there were some fantastic performances from the players, and this provides foundations to build from.
Sala, who was in the front row of the Meazza last night, spoke to ANSA about the result and his frustrations were clear about his side losing but he spoke positively about Milan’s performance, and his words have been relayed by Calciomercato.com.
“The derby to Milan? It was well deserved. Obviously I’m not happy, but football is not an exact science, it’s many things at once and I must say that yesterday Milan destroyed us. So very deserved.”
