Matt Rempe Serving As Igor Shesterkin's Body Guard On The Ice

Igor Shesterkin isn't getting paid gigantic bucks to put up his dukes and toss a few punches, but sometimes it's necessary.

Such was the case the other night when Ottawa captain Brady Tkachuk messed around with the Blueshirts' goalkeeper.

Prize possessions are liable to get hurt doing that, especially goalies, but, as Iggy pointed out, "I didn't like what Tkachuk was doing around my crease."

It took about half a second for the Rangers posse to be formed and come to Shetty's rescue. One of our cowboy heroes named Matt Rempe led one of the charges of the Light Brigade.

"I tried to get through to Igor," Rempe recalls, "but it was too crowded by that point."

So, what's my point? As it has been since the rubber puck was invented, superstars – such as Igor – need a "protector" on the team and the Rangers now have them.

Twin Turrets, Rempe and Adam Edstrom have become the Sheriffs Of Seventh Avenue who have removed "Soft" from the Rangers texture; and the club is all the better for it!
