Matt Eberflus provides update on injured Bears WR Rome Odunze

The Chicago Bears offense suffered a scare when rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze suffered a knee injury in Sunday's comeback win against the Tennessee Titans.

But Chicago got encouraging news when an MRI revealed Odunze suffered a Grade 1 MCL sprain, which was the best case scenario after he was rolled up on while blocking for running back Velus Jones Jr. late in the fourth quarter.

Bears coach Matt Eberflus provided an injury update on Odunze, who is considered "day-to-day" rather than "week-to-week," which was previously reported. So while Odunze won't practice on Wednesday, it's encouraging news for what's hopefully a short absence.

"We’re in a good spot," Eberflus told reporters Wednesday. "It’s nothing serious."

ESPN Chicago's Marc Silverman said Tuesday that the Bears aren't necessarily ruling Odunze out for Sunday's prime-time matchup against the Houston Texans, but it would be a surprise if he plays. Still, if the ninth overall pick has to miss just one game, it's better than what the alternative could've been had it been worse.

Eberflus also addressed veteran receiver Keenan Allen, who regarravated his heel injury in Sunday's game against the Titans. While he wouldn't give a definitive answer, things look encouraging and it's about rest leading up to their Week 2 game. Wednesday's practice will be a rest day for Allen.
