Mats Hummels gives first Roma interview: “I’m 100% convinced of my decision to be here.”
Roma’s latest signing, Mats Hummels, released his interview to the club.
In his presentation interview, Hummels discussed his move to the Italian capital as well as his memories of Totti and De Rossi.
“It’s a really important transfer for me, I can’t wait to live this experience,” said the German veteran.
“I can’t wait to play for this team, for this club, in front of the fans at the stadium. As a child I grew up following Roma, in particular Francesco Totti and my new coach (Daniele De Rossi, ed), against whom I played when I was younger.”
“I’m very happy to be here and to be part of this club, I wanted to make the right choice: I’m really happy and 100% convinced, I didn’t want to find myself in the situation of sitting a few weeks or months later and thinking that maybe I should have waited, I’m happy with the choice I made and to be here now.”
“I honestly needed time after the last season: emotionally, having left Dortmund after so long and after the Champions League final it took me a while to recover.”
“De Rossi is a very good guy who transmits confidence, I knew him when he played and I heard a lot about him, even before hearing from him this year. I watched many Europa League matches last year and the first impression was that of a very good guy but obviously he asks me to work as hard as everyone else and that’s what he will get from me.”
“I’m in good shape, I worked hard in the summer but it’s different from training with the team. Hard to answer, it’s a new situation for me, but if I had to describe how I feel now tell you that, after spending a vacation period, I need a few weeks to be 100%.”
“I think it will take 2/3 weeks to be really ready to play, then I hope to find a really good condition. I will talk a lot with the technical staff, they will work hard both on the field and in the gym. I want to be in the best condition as soon as possible.”
