MATCHDAY: City at Everton while Arsenal plays Brighton; Barcelona can clinch league in Spain

A look at what’s happening in European soccer on Saturday:

ENGLAND

The focus is squarely on the title race when first-placed Manchester City visits Everton followed by second-placed Arsenal's home match against Brighton. City will start the day a point clear of Arsenal with a game in hand. City has won its last 10 league games as the team looks to retain the title. Arsenal has three games left and likely has to win all of them to stand a chance of capturing the title for the first time since 2004. Brentford hosts West Ham in the day's other game.

SPAIN

Barcelona can clinch its first league title since 2019 if it wins at crosstown rival Espanyol. Xavi Hernández’s side needs only two of the 15 points in play to win what would also be its first major title since Lionel Messi left the club two years ago. Espanyol is in 19th place and needs wins to avoid relegation. Altetico Madrid visits the already relegated Elche seeking a win to recover second place from Real Madrid. The other two games will also have implications in the fight to avoid the drop. Valencia is clinging to safety before it plays at Celta Vigo tied on points with relegation-threatened Getafe. Valladolid, which is one point ahead of Valencia, hosts Sevilla.

ITALY

Serie A champion Napoli visits Silvio Berlusconi’s Monza still looking for more achievements. Luciano Spalletti’s team has 83 points with four matches to play and is aiming to break the club record of 91 points set under Maurizio Sarri in 2017-18. Also, second-placed Juventus hosts Cremonese looking to secure a Champions League spot, while sixth-placed Roma needs a win at Bologna to draw closer to the top four.

GERMANY

Bayer Leverkusen needs to overcome season-ending injuries to Odilon Kossounou and Robert Andrich when it visits relegation-threatened Stuttgart. Both were injured in Leverkusen’s 1-0 loss at Roma in the Europa League on Thursday. Another loss at Stuttgart would extend Leverkusen’s run of defeats to three games across all competitions – after it was previously unbeaten in 14 games. Stuttgart lost its last two games but could leave the relegation zone with a win. Leipzig hosts Werder Bremen in the late game, where the home team will hope to reclaim third place from Union Berlin, and the visitors will hope to clinch survival with a win.

FRANCE

Marseille needs to win at home to last-placed Angers to keep the pressure on Lens in the race for second place and an automatic Champions League spot next season. Victory would keep third-placed Marseille two points behind Lens with three rounds remaining after this weekend. Angers is already relegated. Elsewhere, it's a big game between Monaco and Lille in the battle for fourth place and an automatic Europa League place. A victory for fifth-placed Lille would move it to two points behind Monaco in fourth. Canada striker Jonathan David will look to add to his 21 goals for Lille while Lyon sharpshooter Alexandre Lacazette has 24 heading into his side's game at mid-table Clermont.
