Matías Soulé released his first interview as a Roma player.

The Argentine spoke to Roma TV after his signing was made official earlier today.

“I’m really happy. I thank the Friedkin family, who brought me here – they did everything to bring me,” said the 21-year-old who signed a permanent contract until 2029.

“It’s a dream for me to be here. They wanted me, just as I also wanted to be here. I also thank my family, they have always been close to me, my girlfriend, everyone who works with me. I can’t wait to get started.”

“My warm welcome at the airport? It was beautiful, I didn’t expect it. I knew there were a few people, but not like this. I would never have imagined this in my life.”

“Paredes and Dybala? As soon as the first rumors circulated that I could come, they told me about everything that happens here. About how good it was to play for this club, I also asked them everything. Every day we talked more and more with Paulo, and he told me: “Come on, I’ll wait for you here. I have the place free for you…”

“I embrace expectations and the responsibility that comes with them. If I’m appreciated, I like it even more. I will have to prove it on the pitch, repay the trust the of the club and of the fans who were waiting for me yesterday.”

“I wouldn’t be here today with Di Francesco and Angelozzi (ex-Frosinone coach and sporting director). Without them I wouldn’t have gotten here, I wouldn’t have had the chance to play, they gave me their trust from day one.”

“De Rossi’s style of play can be very important for me. I considered everything before coming here. Last year I saw how the team played, how it has changed since he arrived. It was truly incredible. Training with him, given that he also played in Argentina, and speaks a little Argentine and understands everything well, will really help me a lot.”

“The coach, the club… they all played a part in me coming here… what I wanted most was to stay here in Italy and come to Roma.”

“To the fans I say, thank you for the welcome at the airport, it was wonderful for me, I will also thank you on the pitch, demonstrating what I can do. See you at the stadium. Daje Roma.”
