Mason Mount makes immediate trophy vow after sealing Manchester United transfer

Mason Mount has vowed to bring trophy-winning experience to Manchester United after sealing a £60m move from Chelsea.

The England international signed a five-year contract with the option of a further year at Old Trafford on Wednesday worth in the region of £250k-per-week.

The move to United brings an end to an 18-year association with the Blues as Mount begins a new chapter in his career.

On Tuesday, the 24-year-old bid an emotional farewell to Chelsea fans in a social media video and admitted some Blues fans would not be happy with his decision.

Still, Mount stressed that the move was the “right step” at this stage of his career and has now vowed to help United win major trophies.

The player lifted the Champions League, Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup while at Chelsea and arrives with significant top-level experience.

United, meanwhile, ended their trophy drought by lifting the Carabao Cup last season during Erik ten Hag’s opening campaign at the club.

“Everyone can see that the club has made big steps forward under Erik ten Hag,” he said.

“Having met with the manager and discussed his plans, I couldn’t be more excited for the seasons ahead, and am ready for the hard work expected here.

“I am hugely ambitious; I know how amazing it feels to win major trophies and what it takes to do it. I will be giving everything to experience that again at Manchester United.”
