Mason Greenwood absent from Marseille’s preseason friendly squad against Sunderland in the UK

According to La Provence, Mason Greenwood (22) has been left out of Marseille’s squad to face Sunderland in a pre-season friendly set to take place in the UK on Saturday. Bradford City play hosts for the match which is set to be played at their Valley Parade stadium in Yorkshire.

La Provence reports that the former Manchester United striker has suffered a muscle lesion which has made him ineligible for the match against the Black Cats. This has denied a possible return to playing in front of English crowds for Greenwood. OM did not want to take any risks of aggravating an injury for their attacker.

Greenwood is a new recruit at the Stade Vélodrome after completing the move from Old Trafford for a fee of €31.6m. Whilst OM has informed the media that the absence is due to an injury, the French publication understands this could be to avoid a complicated return to England.
