Martin Necas Named NHL's Second Star of the Week
The NHL has named Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas the Second Star of the Week for Oct. 28 through Nov. 3.
Necas, 25, was tied for the league lead in points for the week with nine (3g, 6a) in three games.
In each of the three games, Necas scored a goal and finished with a multi-point night.
In 10 games this season, Necas has six goals and 18 points which is tied for ninth in the entire NHL.
In addition, his 18 points are tied with Eric Staal for the most by a Hurricanes/Whalers player through the team’s first 10 games of a season (Staal had 9g, 18pts in 2005-06).
Alex Ovechkin took home First Star honors with five goals and nine points in four games and Sidney Crosby was the Third Star with four goals and seven points in three games.
Not bad company to be a part of.
