According to a report from Foot Mercato, Olympique de Marseille will make a second offer for Stade Rennais forward Amine Gouiri (24), after the first was deemed ‘insufficient’ by the Breton club. Les Phocéens have reportedly offered €2m for a loan deal with a €10m compulsory purchase option, which was turned down by Rennes in recent hours.

OM plan to make a second offer for the player, who is under contract with Jorge Sampaoli’s side until 2027. The amount has not yet been revealed, but Gouiri is reportedly keen on joining OM, and that Roberto de Zerbi wants the striker. The Algerian international would be joining his fourth Ligue 1 club if a deal is to happen, after stints and OL, Nice , and most recently Stade Rennais.

After Marseille sold Elye Wahi (24) to Eintracht Frankfurt last week, manager Roberto De Zerbi and OM are expecting a ‘strong’ replacement this winter, so that the club isn’t just left with Neal Maupay, Mason Greenwood, and 17-year-old Robinio Vaz as the attackers available which can play at number 9. De Zerbi alluded to this in his previous pre-match press conference: “If Wahi leaves, a strong player will arrive. It’s difficult in winter, but I’m expecting a strong replacement. We’ll have a striker! Who will it be? I think we’ll find him.”
