Marseille have reached an agreement with Manchester United to sign Mason Greenwood.

That is according to the Athletic’s David Ornstein, who states that the proposed move remains subject to the 22-year-old’s approval but that a fee of €31.6million (£26.7m) has been agreed between the clubs.

The breakdown of the deal will see the Ligue 1 club pay €27.6m (£23.3m) fixed and €4m (£3.4m) in add-ons. United will also receive a large share of any future sale.

Greenwood has not played for the Old Trafford club since January 2022 following his arrest for serious criminal allegations, all of which he denied. The UK’s Crown Prosecution Service discontinued the case against him in February of last year, but it has been decided by the United hierarchy that his career will not see him return to Manchester.

The one-time England international spent last season on loan at Getafe, scoring 10 goals in 36 appearances, and has since attracted interest from several clubs across Europe.

However, it appears the forward is now set for a move to Marseille, where he will work under former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi.
