Marina Mabrey to miss 2-4 weeks of Unrivaled season with calf strain

The guard will be sidelined for at least a quarter of the 3x3 league's 8-week season

On the eve of Unrivaled's Friday debut, one of the stars from the 3x3 women's basketball league will miss two to four weeks due to injury.

Marina Mabrey, who will play for Phantom BC, suffered a right calf strain during training camp and will miss at least a quarter of Unrivaled's eight-week season. The injury was discovered on an MRI exam, and the six-year veteran will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

If Mabrey is out for four weeks, she will also likely miss Unrivaled's 1-on-1 single elimination tournament held from Feb. 10-14. The winner will earn a $250,000 award and an additional $10,000 for her 3x3 teammates.

Mabrey, 28, averaged 14.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 38% on 3-pointers for the Chicago Sky and Connecticut Sun last season. She's also played for the Los Angeles Sparks and Dallas Wings during her WNBA career.

On Friday, Unrivaled announced that unrestricted free agent Natisha Hiedeman will join Phantom BC on a relief player contract. She will remain in the Unrivaled player pool for the 2025 season.

Satou Sabally, Sabrina Ionescu (who has been cleared to play while recovering from UCL surgery on her right thumb), Brittney Griner, Natasha Cloud and Katie Lou Samuelson make up the rest of Phantom's roster, coached by Adam Harrington.

Phantom BC makes its Unrivaled debut Saturday versus Lunar Owls BC at 2 p.m. ET. The matchup will be televised on truTV.

Unrivaled tips off Friday night with Mist BC versus Lunar Owls at 7 p.m. ET and Rose BC and Vinyl BC matched up at 8 p.m. ET. Both games will be televised on TNT.
