Maresca names and shames two players for mistakes on sloppy second goal
In his interview after Chelsea’s win over Brighton, manage Enzo Maresca blamed two players for the sloppy second goal conceded by his team in the game.
“It starts with Malo, who takes a risk, and then Robert, who takes a risk.”
The first goal was, to us, also the product of some careless play in the box.
Maresca admitted that his team will concede “more goals like this,” but it was just part of how they want to play.
We can accept the occasional poor goal conceded, but we’ve seen so many games thrown away over the last few years through poor decisions from defenders and goalkeepers. Today we were bailed out by an exceptional individual performance and some great finishing.
Against teams which defend really well, a single mistake at the back is all it takes to drop points.
