Marcus Rashford eager to work with Ruben Amorim, who is ready to get the Manchester United man back to his best
Marcus Rashford is buzzing to work under Ruben Amorim and believes the incoming Manchester United boss could be the man to help him back to his best.
And Amorim can’t wait to get started with the 27-year-old, who he is convinced “can become one of the most dangerous attacking players in the Premier League once again”, according to TEAMtalk.
Amorim is all set to take over as United manager, with a deal thought to have been agreed with Sporting Lisbon to bring him to Old Trafford after the November international break.
Rashford is said to be “very happy” that the 39-year-old will be stepping into the United dugout, where he will replace Erik ten Hag as permanent manager.
The report states that Rashford’s “primary goal is to return to his previous high levels with the Red Devils and [he] has welcomed the change in management, convinced that not only him but the whole team can benefit from it.”
What’s more, it’s felt that the positivity goes both ways as Amorim “greatly appreciates” the Englishman’s ability to play all across the frontline and “believes he can improve his performances significantly in the short-term and help him regain his confidence.”
United’s attacking output has been shocking this season so improvements are certainly necessary, and getting Rashford in particular firing again would be an immediate feather in the cap of United’s new manager.
Perhaps more than anyone else in the squad, the Carrington graduate keenly felt the highs and lows of life under Ten Hag. In the Dutchman’s first season in charge an unstoppable Rashford hit 30 goals, but this was followed by a dismal 2023/24 season during which he managed just eight.
This season he has performed in fits and starts, but has looked a long way from his rip-roaring best.
TEAMtalk report that the United board have emphasised to Amorim that improving United’s players is paramount, and Rashford is a prime candidate for revitalisation.
The report continues that the squad were “sad to see Ten Hag sacked but accept it was the correct decision” and adds that “Rashford’s relationship with Ten Hag was initially very good, but some disagreements over the last few months led to their relationship breaking down somewhat.”
The England international is said to have “believed a breath of fresh air was required for Man Utd to move forward”, which is a slightly unsettling thing to hear after a string of visibly lacklustre performances.
Nevertheless, there is optimism on all sides that Amorim’s arrival will turn things around and get the season back on track for the Reds.
