Despite his reputation for playing a gritty game, Brad Marchand is one of the NHL’s best players, he’s tired of the disrespect and is ready to flame anyone standing in his way.

At least for a few hours.

Marchand has been pretty active on social media this season and evidently sees and hears everything said about him.

When Carolina Hurricanes forward Vincent Trocheck was asked whether there are any similarities between him and Marchand, he responded with, “are you calling me a rat?”

Marchand, understandably, was none too pleased.

“This is like comparing a Lambo to a Prius,” Marchand wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post.

But the clapback didn’t end there.

In the post with the hilarious caption above, Marchand attached his HockeyDB page against Trocheck’s, clearly illuminating the vast difference in their production and talent levels. Marchand seems to have changed his mind about the post, which is now unavailable on Instagram after it spread through the hockey world like wildfire. But still, he has a point.

Trocheck posted a career-best 75 points in 2017-18 as a member of the Florida Panthers, a total that Marchand has bested four times.

Marchand is having another outstanding season with 20 goals and 43 points in 30 games, while Trocheck has recorded eight goals and 24 points in 33 games.

It could get ugly on Tuesday evening as the Bruins host the Hurricanes, where Marchand, who is rarely quiet even when unprovoked, could have a few more choice words for Trocheck.
