Maple Leafs Prospect's Point Streak Hits 60 Games; London Dismantles Sudbury

The Sudbury Wolves traveled to London for their first matchup of the year against the defending champions, but it turned out to be a game they would prefer to forget.

The Knights are on track to surpass the 100-point mark for the second consecutive season. They entered Sunday’s matinee game on a 10-game point streak, having won nine of those games.

Sudbury managed to survive the first period, trailing 1-0. However, in the second period, they faced the full offensive power of the Knights.

During that middle frame, London outshot the Wolves 16-6 and dominated the game with five goals scored by Sam O'Reilly, Denver Barkey, Henry Brzustewicz, and two from Easton Cowan.

Cowan also provided a primary assist on Barkey's goal, extending his remarkable regular season point streak to an astonishing 60 games.

The Maple Leafs prospect unofficially broke Doug Gilmour's regular season point streak before he left to represent Canada at the 2025 World Juniors.

Although he continues to be a model for consistency, Cowan hasn't been scoring an insane amount of points this year. Last season, in 54 regular-season games, he had 33 multi-point games. This year, so far, he's had just nine in 24.

This isn't to say that he has been playing poorly, as he continues to look like one of the most dangerous offensive forwards in the OHL this season, but it's fair to say that he had one of his most explosive games in quite some time.

New York Islanders prospect Jesse Nurmi added two goals in the third period to seal London's 8-1 thumping over the Wolves.

In the last six games, London has scored 34 goals. The depth of this Knights team is incredible. They have a lethal three-line attack up front at forward and continue to get lots of production from their blueline.

Here's a fun tidbit: London doesn't have a 20-goal scorer (yet). However, they have 11 (most in the OHL) players with double-digits in goals.

A few teams in the East could cause problems for London if they meet them in the OHL Finals — don't sleep on the Windsor Spitfires either — but it's looking more and more likely that London is destined to repeat as OHL Champions.
