When the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders line up on Sunday there will be some fairly significant history on the line.
The two teams are playing for a shot to go to the Super Bowl, obviously, which is a big deal no matter what team it is. But the Commanders have a bit more riding on the line here with Jayden Daniels.
As a rookie quarterback, Daniels has already surpassed most people's expectations of him and how far he could take this team. But, should the Commanders win this game, he'll have done what no other player in NFL history has been able to do.
Daniels would be the first rookie quarterback to ever start a Super Bowl if the Commanders win.
Other rookies have come close. Daniels is the sixth rookie QB to ever play in a championship game.
The others are:
Brock Purdy (49ers, 2022-23)
Mark Sanchez (Jets, 2009-10)
Joe Flacco (Ravens, 2008-09)
Ben Roethlisberger (Steelers, 2004-05)
Shaun King (Buccaneers, 1999-2000)
All five of the previous rookie QBs lost their respective championship games. If Daniels wins his, he'd unquestionably have accomplished one of the greatest feats the game has ever seen.
