Manitoba Moose Debut 25th Season Throwback Uniforms

The Manitoba Moose put on a show on this weekend from Canada Life Centre, and they did so in style.

Facing off in the second of two home contests against the Chicago Wolves, the Moose debuted their 25th season celebration sweaters - a combination of logos, imagery and colours seen over the last three decades of Moose hockey.

Manitoba is in the midst of a six-game homestand and took care of business against the Wolves on Saturday, by way of a 4-2 final. Brad Lambert scored twice, while Kaapo Kahkonen turned aside 25 of the 27 shots he faced, helping the Moose pick up their sixth win of the season.

Founded in 1994 following the departure of the Minnesota North Stars, the Minnesota Moose played for two seasons out of St. Paul, MN. before Mark Chipman and company purchased the team, bringing it north of the border to help fill the void left behind by the recently departed Winnipeg Jets.

The team changed its name to the Manitoba Moose and continued using the slightly modified 'smiling moose' logo for the first five seasons of IHL play.

When the team joined the AHL in 2001, the logo was shifted to a theme featuring green as its prominent colour scheme.

Upon its move to the former MTS Centre, the logo changed drastically to the 'angry moose', while still featuring the green-dominant colours.

Manitoba relocated to St. John's upon the return of the Jets to Winnipeg, but came back to play in Canada Life Centre in 2015. It was then that the team's main colour structure was altered to align with the colours of their big-league affiliate.

In opting to highlight the 25th season of professional play, the Moose went with a throwback celebratory sweater for use at home games four times this season.

The next three games to which the 25th season sweaters will be worn are December 22, February 8 and April 5.
