Manchester United have rewarded a trio of academy players with their first professional contracts.

Jacob Devaney, Ashton Missin, and Tom Myles have all been tied down after impressive seasons with the u18s.

The three were all key players in Adam Lawrence’s u18s side who won a monumental treble.

The three young players all took to social media to share their pride in the achievement.

The son of a former professional and most recently the manager of Barnsley, Jacob Devaney is following in the footsteps of his father Martin.

A central midfielder by trade, Devaney was one of the unsung heroes of the u18s squad as he created a formidable partnership with captain Finley McAllister.

Enjoying the defensive side of the game, Devaney mops up the play in midfield but also displays a high level of composure on the ball.

Also earning his u21s debut last season, the young midfielder made 30 appearances across the age groups.

Yet to be capped at international level, Devaney is eligible for England and Ireland.

Speedy winger Ashton Missin has also impressed with his never-ending engine up and down the pitch.

Operating on both the right and left wing, Missin scored five goals and created two assists in 26 appearances last season after returning from an injury riddled 22/23.

Despite being on the smaller side, Missin’s high energy sees him willing to pit himself against much larger defenders and often come out the better due to his quick and nimble feet. A play style which could be compared to former United player, Dan James.

Lastly, Tom Myles was the first choice keeper for the u18s for the majority of last season with Elyh Harrison pushing into the u21s.

An agile keeper, Myles stands out with his quick reflexes to get down quickly to stop shots while also being composed with the ball at his feet.

On the shorter side for a keeper, Myles’ biggest obstacle will be dealing with the physicality and high balls as he steps into senior football.

With their futures secured at United, the three youngsters will first be looking to solidify themselves at u21s level before potentially breaking into Erik ten Hag’s first team.
