Manchester United to target a versatile full-back if Aaron Wan-Bissaka is sold
Manchester United are reportedly keen to target a more versatile full-back due to the potential sale of right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The Red Devils’ summer window has got off to a strong start by signing two young, exciting talents to bolster the first team squad.
Joshua Zirkzee was announced at the start of the week and will come in to compete with Rasmus Hojlund to be the club’s number one striking option.
In an incredibly exciting day of news, it was reported yesterday that United had surprisingly won the race for centre back Leny Yoro, snatching him from Real Madrid’s grasp.
It has been relayed here previously that Erik ten Hag’s side are also keen to add a left back this summer due to the injury issues that both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia suffered last season.
Nonetheless, it has been reported by GIVEMESPORT that United’s priorities may be shifting.
The website states that “the situation at full-back might not be headline-grabbing, but it is nevertheless important. Manchester United want to sign cover on the left for Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.”
However, the real update is that the club “could also be forced to sign someone versatile, to cover the right side too. That is because of the exit route Aaron Wan-Bissaka is currently walking.”
Wan-Bissaka is of interest to West Ham United and it was reported yesterday that the club had opened talks with United over a possible deal and the Old Trafford outfit would ask in the region of £15 million.
United have been heavily linked to left full backs such as Milos Kerkez and Miguel Gutierrez and could yet still make a move for either of these players depending on player sales.
Erik ten Hag’s side have also been credited with an interest in right backs such as Jeremie Frimpong and Denzel Dumfries but neither can be described as particularly versatile.
Perhaps a name to watch would be that of Turkiye’s Euro 2024 star Ferdi Kadıoğlu who can play as both a right sided and left sided full back.
The Turkish defender has been repeatedly linked to a switch to Old Trafford and it has been reported by the media in Turkiye that United have already submitted a €25 million bid for the player.
