Alejandro Garnacho’s bicycle kick at Everton is among 11 strikes in contention to win the 2024 edition of FIFA’s Puskas Award.

The award, named after Hungarian legend Ferenc Puskas, celebrates the best goals scored between 21 August 2023 and 10 August 2024.

The nominees for the 2024 Puskas Award are out and Garnacho faces serious competition if he’s to get his hands on the award.

It is without doubt the best goal Garnacho has scored in a United shirt, but he has scored several screamers since emerging from the academy to the first team.

Diogo Dalot delivered a pinpoint cross, which the winger met with a stunning bicycle kick, sending his effort past Jordan Pickford in the Everton goal.

Now, United fans have an opportunity to help him win the Puskas Award by simply voting here.

Garnacho’s strike against Everton is the only Premier League goal in contention for the award.

Meanwhile, Jaden Philogene’s strike is the first-ever Championship goal to be nominated. The other nominees include Yassine Benzia, Michaell Chirinos, Hassan Al Haydos, Paul Onauchu, Federico Di Marco, Terry Antonis, Mohammed Kudus, Denis Omedi, Walter Bou.

Priority must be team honours over individual awards

While it’s great to see United players nominated for such awards, the main aim for any team should be success won by that team rather than individuals.

Garnacho will want to be remembered for winning Premier League titles over a potential Ballon d’Or unless his head is in the wrong place.

Under Ruben Amorim, Garnacho faces fresh challenges to prove his worth in the new system. He is undoubtedly one of the club’s most exciting young players right now.

There’s plenty of competition in attack with everyone fit and available, so it’s only a matter of time before we find out which players Amorim prefers.

One player making a good impression is Amad Diallo in the wing back role.
