Manchester United starlet, 19, rejects contract extension offer amid widespread interest

Manchester United youngster Willy Kambwala has reportedly rejected an offer to extend his contract.

The 19-year-old, who is a homegrown player, is under contract at United until 2025. He impressed when called upon in the first-team last season and most fans would’ve expected him to sign an extension.

Erik ten Hag promoted Kambwala to the United first-team last season after the club endured an injury crisis at centre-back. His debut came in December last year during a defeat to West Ham in the Premier League.

Kambwala finished his first season in the senior team with 10 appearances.

German football reporter Christopher Michel took to X, formerly known as Twitter, after morning to provide an intriguing update on Kambwala’s contract situation.

The centre-back has interest from the US, France, Germany and Spain following a breakthrough season with United.

Michel believes Kambwala’s preference is to move to Spain.

Kambwala back training for pre-season

The young centre-back was among the first group of United players to return for pre-season this summer.

Kambwala appeared to be wearing a new squad number for next season, after being spotted wearing the number 32 in training.

United are in the hunt for new centre-backs, so there is a chance that Kambwala could move elsewhere. I wouldn’t be against the idea of sending him on loan if we can add three new centre-backs to the squad.
