Manchester United’s injury woes returned once again as two key players hobbled off the pitch during their pre-season game against Premier League rivals Arsenal on Sunday.

Rasmus Hojlund scored the opening goal of the match but was seen complaining to the physios soon after and as a precautionary measure, Erik ten Hag decided to take him off.

After the game, the manager said it would take a day or two before an exact prognosis of the injury can be revealed.

However, with new signing Joshua Zirkzee yet to join training, once again the Dutchman had no other senior forward options and was forced to play midfielder Hannibal Mejbri as a false nine.

United need another striker

Last season as well, the former Ajax coach had no choice but to keep playing the Dane as Anthony Martial was perennially injured while Marcus Rashford struggled for any sort of form.

With Zirkzee’s integration likely to take time, Sunday’s injury scare should serve as a reminder to INEOS that another forward is required.

It has been previously relayed by The Peoples Person that Max Beier of Hoffenheim is someone that interests the Red Devils and now Tutto Juve have claimed that a race is on for the German talent.

His club is asking for €40 million to part with the 21-year-old who netted 16 goals in the German top-flight last term, an impressive tally for someone so young.

Juventus and Atletico Madrid are refusing to match the German club’s valuation and that could allow United the chance to sneak ahead in the race. However, arch rivals Liverpool are also considering making a bid.

“Manchester United and Liverpool are among the clubs considering bringing Beier to the Premier League in the current transfer window.

Max Beier is a man in demand

“Hoffenheim want around €40 million before they will agree to sell Beier in the current transfer window. Atletico Madrid are also interested in Beier, but are only willing to offer between €25 million and €30 million, about the same amount Juventus would offer.”

United’s new co-owners are eyeing defensive and midfield reinforcements with another centre-back and a midfielder high on their agenda, not to mention a full-back as well.

Whether they can cough up the money for another forward this window remains to be seen. Academy ace Ethan Wheatley remains a work in progress and is not ready to be thrown straight into the mix while Rashford prefers the left.

Ten Hag has a major conundrum to solve. Hopefully, Hojlund’s injury will not be too serious and Zirkzee can hit the ground running. United’s fortunes will depend a lot on the young duo.
