Manchester United could hamper Brighton and Hove Albion’s transfer plans, as they have made a late move for Ferdi Kadıoğlu, as per reports in Turkey media.

The Fenerbahçe full-back raised plenty of eyebrows last season with his ability to invert in midfield and operate in tight spaces. The versatile player established himself as an integral part of the side, making 51 appearances in all competitions.

However, it was his impressive stint in this summer’s Euros for Turkey that really intensified interest in him from across Europe. In particular, Brighton have shown serious interest in signing Kadıoğlu.

United have also been linked with the 24-year-old star. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the Red Devils even held talks with his representatives to understand his contractual demands.

Still, reports until Thursday morning suggested Brighton are leading the race for the talented defender, who is believed to be valued in the region of €35m.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed the Seagulls are “advancing in talks” to sign the Turkey international, having already agreed personal terms with him.

However, Turkish outlet Sporx (via Sport Witness) have shared a fresh update, claiming United have now taken a concrete step in their bid to sign him.

It is being claimed the Premier League giants have tabled an offer for Kadıoğlu, who started his career as a playmaker.

Both United and Brighton are said to be locking horns over the talented left-back, but it is the Old Trafford outfit who have offered “the most money” in the initial payment. Meanwhile, Brighton’s offer is thought to be worth more including add-ons.

Fenerbahce are yet to make a decision, with the final say resting on the shoulders of the club’s president Ali Koc.

Further, it is suggested that the late move from United is influenced by Luke Shaw’s injury. The Englishman has been ruled out for the side’s opening games due to a calf injury.

With Tyrell Malacia also sidelined, Erik ten Hag heads into the new Premier League season without any senior left-back at his disposal.
